About

I am Hong Wang, a University-appointed Associate Research Fellow at the School of Artificial Intelligence, Hubei University, and director of the Embodied Intelligence Lab. I earned three graduate degrees in related disciplines from the University of Missouri–Columbia in the United States. My research focuses on computer vision, deep reinforcement learning, and robotics.

Before joining academia, I worked at PayPal and Siemens Healthineers AI Lab in the United States, gaining substantial industry experience. I currently lead and contribute to research projects supported by national, provincial, and ministerial funding, advancing research in artificial intelligence and robotics.

Research

My research spans computer vision, deep reinforcement learning, and robotics. I focus on the foundations and engineering of embodied agents, aiming to build general intelligent systems that can perceive complex environments, reason, and make autonomous decisions in the physical world.

Using a perception–cognition–action loop, I study multimodal visual representations, dynamic environment modeling, hierarchical reinforcement learning, and simulation-to-real transfer (Sim2Real). The goal is to enable human-like environmental understanding, task planning, and autonomous manipulation in unstructured physical environments. Core topics include:
